Trump’s NFT Collections Surge 3,700% After Mug Shot Debut

The trading volume of NFT collections linked to ex-U.S. President Donald Trump experienced an astronomical rise of over 3,700% shortly after he turned himself in to Georgia officials on Aug. 24.

Data from Coingecko indicates a noticeable surge in trading volume for Trump’s Series 1 and 2 collections. Specifically, Series 1 increased about 300% to 18.89 ETH (equivalent to $31,429), while Series 2 witnessed a surge of around 3,750% to 9.88 ETH (valued at $16,361).

This uptick also uplifted the base prices of the collections. The initial collection’s base price and market valuation ascended to $313 and $14.07 million correspondingly. Concurrently, the subsequent collection experienced a rise in its base price and market valuation, reaching $50 and $2.3 million respectively.

This event is not the first where Trump-related occurrences have impacted the worth of his NFT collections. Previously in the year, Trump’s Series 1 collection witnessed a 461% uptick in sales volume after he faced indictment by a grand jury.

Trump Showcases Mug Shot on X Platform

On Aug. 24, Trump showcased a mug shot on the social media outlet X (previously identified as Twitter), signaling his comeback following a hiatus spanning over two years. Accompanying the image was the tagline: “ELECTION INTERFERENCE! NEVER SURRENDER!”

His post also contained a URL leading to his official site which depicted his apprehension as a “miscarriage of justice and ELECTION INTERFERENCE.” Trump maintained his stance that he perpetrated “NO CRIME” and solicited his audience to financially support his cause.

Despite his account’s prior suspension on X in January 2021 – a repercussion of potential violence incitement post the U.S. Capitol event – Trump continues to have a significant influence. His account was reactivated following the acquisition of the platform by Elon Musk the subsequent year.

Boasting a follower count exceeding 86 million, Trump’s presence on the platform is formidable. His latest update drew an astounding 126 million viewership and received 1 million approvals in a mere 11-hour window.

Additionally, marking a historical first, Trump is the inaugural ex-U.S. president to have his mug shot captured after being registered at Fulton County Jail, Georgia. As per a report by CNN, he met the $200,000 bond requirement by furnishing 10% of the necessary sum and partnering with an Atlanta-based bail bond agency, Foster Bail Bonds LLC.
